Tabula quarter

This section of the fort, dating from the second century AD, is made up of a set of six buildings that constitute a family unit or quarter. It is located at ground level next to the north wall and it highlights the existence of a section of paved patio as well as four square-plan buildings, two of them equipped with a hall that precedes the main private room.
Within the complex, originally demarcated by walls of a minimum height of 2 m high, a series of three adjectival architectures are distinguished (courts, granaries, storage barns ...) and two square-plan dwellings equipped with a fireplace for cooking and heating the living space. In these two residential constructions a family of between 4 and 6 adult members could live.

Treasure

In this same sector of the fort also appeared a collection of 64 coins dating back to the 1st century AD. In the foundations of the vestibule of the quadrangular structure located slightly to the east, a sculpture of a complete ape was recovered.

Tabula Hospitalis

In this area the “Tabula Hospitalis” was recovered, a bronze plaque which contains a hospitality pact dated in the year 132 AD that was signed by the indigenous settlers of the fort, the COELERNI, with the Roman military command. These pacts between the indigenous and the Romans were common in mining areas in the time of the Emperor Hadrian.

The tabula allows us to locate at this fort Coeliobriga, the capital of the town of Coelio. The pact was intended to integrate Roman power in the territory dominated by the natives. This pact of hospitality serves to publicly attest to the relationship established between the natives and the Romans, which is why it would have been kept in a public building in the community.
Transcription of the text of tabula
"The consuls Gneo Julio Augurino and Gneo Trebio Sergiano, the "Coelerni" of the Hispania Citerior and the convent of Braga, made an agreement of hospitality with Gneo Antonio Aquilino Novaugustano, prefect of the first Cohort of the Celtiberians with their children and descendants. Gneo Antonio Aquilo made a hospitality pact with the "Coelerni", with their children and descendants. It acted like legacy Publio Campanio Gémino."
